The Archetype of Gemini
Gemini shows the way our mind works. It shows what interests us and what we must learn and how we learn it in this incarnation. It indicates how we gather information and for what reason. The gathering of information cannot be overlooked for in this way we overcome ideological dead ends, ideas and assumptions that were limiting to the evolution of our soul in previous lifetimes. It shows the strategy we have that allows us to survive. Mercury in our chart indicates how we learn to fit into our life, to navigate and know what to do to SURVIVE. If our mercury is challenged then we always feel vulnerable because we do not know where to go, who to talk to and what to do to navigate our life successfully. For example, a Sun in Gemini will always be on the lookout for information that will provide a leg up on survival. They are masterful at integrating, knowing where to be at the right time and the right place to make their life function better, work smoother. The downside of this is because they are very sensitive to their environment, they may always be on the lookout, on the move and aware of a new development, a new lesson, a new product that could be instrumental to understanding life. They can get strung out, over-extended and in this way, exhaust their capability.
Gemini indicates siblings and their influence. On one level they function to show relativity. A sibling could have been us, same genetic material, same parents. As time goes on siblings usually separate, go off on their own. Then, as they reconnect, the sharing of life experiences allows greater understanding and discussions. This clarifies and allows integration of more and more layers of the truth. This discussion and comparison allow us to draw conclusions about similarities and differences, gaining clarity and ability to see the patterns. We see the connections amongst the randomness.
Air signs, Gemini, Aquarius and Libra, can indicate a variety of medical conditions. Air signs are important signatures of movement, balance and exchange. Breathing, in and out, taking in the power of oxygen for the fire of metabolism, for living, and then exhaling is the relevant process. Inhalation can be related to surprise, inhalation and hold the breath-no movement, in a state of anxiety and shock. Exhaling is important, release, letting go, relaxation. This is about giving back, relinquishing control, trust.
This relates to the above-mentioned issue of an over-extended nervous system. Always aware of the environment, never a moment to rest and this can cause nervous conditions, trouble resting and trouble being calm. Breathing, in and out, is a method of relaxation for all-it activates the vagus nerve activating the off switch of the “fight or flight” response. This allows physiologic changes to decrease rapid heart rate, stop the stressful adrenaline rash, and calm down the instinct of panic. We have needed this “fight of flight” evolutionarily to survive, however in the modern world it causes many troubles. Stress acts at many levels and results in imbalances of estrogen, testosterone and progesterone. It can affect the function of the stomach and intestines causing maldigestion, abdominal pain, abdominal bloating, abdominal acid, diarrhea and constipation. This can lead to dietary insufficiencies. It can affect the gut bacteria; it is essential for healthy function of the immune system. This immune dysfunction is causative of many diseases such as celiac disease, arthritis, or any autoimmune disease. It can cause abdominal obesity and create type 2 diabetes, inflammation, and cardiovascular disease. It can cause mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression and dementia. It can affect the cellular metabolism giving rise to fatigue, insomnia or chronic pain. Breath is crucial for health in the body. It will help these hypervigilant Gemini-types understand their process. Through this process of experiencing stress and its consequences there can be realized greatly improved quality of life.
Air signs can be diplomatic, observational. They are watchers, necessarily so to learn how things work, how and why others do what they do to gather data, see the relativity, see how it all fits together and to make connections that allow them to live a life that works. This observational nature allows them to survive. The problem is that they could get caught up in this behavior and fail to act and so fail to get involved and lose part of themselves. The opposite of this is fire-fire gets involved, is subjective and immersive. Fire signs are about the ignition, the spark and are good at starting projects. These signs are very true to their own nature, very authentic to their own process, to their own needs.
Air signs are prone to conditions brought on because of anxiety and trouble settling down. Some such conditions include panic attacks, possibly arrhythmias of the heart, asthma and other respiratory ailments (which can also be seen through the archetype of Aquarius). Because of their tendency to nervous conditions, they can be smokers and then have the conditions related to this such as lung emphysema and COPD. This can be ameliorated with anti-inflammatory foods such as colorful fruits and vegetables 5-10 servings daily, curcumin, quercitin, green tea, etc. Gemini and Aquarius, both mental signs, show health conditions involving brain function. Gemini represents the function of the left-brain, which is the rational, linear brain. If there are challenging aspects or signatures such as Saturn or Neptune with Mercury there can be trouble with fluency, concentration, focus, and completion of thoughts. Things like dementia, amnesia, seizures ADHD, ADD could be seen but of course, is not always the case. To protect the brain, investment in healthy gut health to diversify the microbiome in the gut by plenty of different types of soluble and insoluble fiber, decreasing processed foods, no trans fats and gut barrier healing with DGLand glutamine for example. There should be careful attention to nutrition such as adequate carbohydrates because glucose is a necessary substrate for metabolism of brain cells. Good quality fats such as omega 3 fatty acids and balanced omega 6 fatty acids from fish or supplements are essential. Vitamin D is also great for degenerative conditions as is support for the metabolic processes of the cells through Co-Q 10, N-acetyl cysteine, alpha-lipoic acid, exercise, and time restricted eating. Brain exercises will help, as they say, “use it or lose it”.
